WING IT, LUCY - AN ARTIST TRADING CARD

I am entering this in Gingersnap Creations Challenge (GC63) Sunshine.  Double click on the title of this post to go directly there or http://gingersnapcreations.blogspot.com/ .  The inspiration for this challenge is to be Sunshine.   The original photo of Lucy and the light on her face conveyed her sunny personality so aptly.  The photo was the inspiration for an orange and yellow layout and then a little chipboard house in yellows, oranges and sky blue, "Lucy's World" a previous post.  And now a set of ATCs.

The background is a Sassafrass paper (Anthem line), I used one of the scalloped borders from the same line for the "flower bed".  I painted a light coat of white acrylic in the middle before adhering my winged Lucy.   Lucy's cupid body is from Crafty Secrets, I used a thumbnail picure of her (BTW Lucy is one of the granddaughters) for the head.  Ok, yes I think it is a bit demented to cut out your own families heads and paste them on other bodies but I also think it is darn cute!
I scanned the side of the little house and then printed that out onto a letter sized sheet (9 wallets) to make the background, printed out the same again and fussy cut each of the "Lucys" which I edged in violet and popped with foam dots onto the background.  A bit of orange ribbon along the top to simulate sunshine and added a light orange acrylic butterfly with a sunny yellow gem adhered to it.   And yes Allison - as Lucy's mom I already have #1 put away for you!

  4. I don't think it's demented to use headshots of your family member (cos you know I do it too on my puppets). Love the idea of using white acrylic to tone down the background and allow focus to be on Lucy.
