CHLOE PRESTON ARTICULATED VALENTINES 1910- 1920
A couple of images from my own collection. The little girl has "feet" on a wheel which you "walk" her with. The feet can't really be captured on a scan but not entirely necessary for use as an image. I adore the cat what a mischievous look on his face! His awkward looking front legs move about. Enjoy!

CHLOE PRESTON HONEYCOMB VALENTINE - 1908
If you have been fortunate enough to have a few vintage valentines in your collection then you will want to check out the Vintage Valentine Museum! This is a wonderful resource for finding out more about your treasures. I do have a few Chloe Preston's in my own collection, I do adore her wide eyed characters and scenes but this image is courtesy of the Vintage Valentine Museum.

VALENTINE SHADOW BOX AND VINTAGE IMAGE
Most holidays I try to craft something for the grands or at least a special project for each of the four families. I started on these the week after Christmas knowing I had limited time once January came.
I had saved the boxes ( 6.5 long x 1 deep) sometime ago thinking they were perfect for a small shadow box. I used a lightweight paper (not card stock) to cover the box. If I get a decent side picture I will add that later. I used a striped paper from the same line to cover the sides and back. A MS scalloped lace with hearts border punch to create the trim along the sides and the frame around the top in red heavy cardstock, this is one piece scored to fit around the edges. Felt hearts from Michaels, MS heart sequins glued into the inside seams, punched leaves and a bit of a berry stem to create the branch. Lots of Platinum Stickles for glitter, it is more glittery than you can tell by the picture. And of course faux stitching, this time in white.
I printed this vintage image 4 to a letter sized sheet to get the size used here. I do think these candy Valentine cards are adorable and I will post more for you later.

MARIE AND MARGIE Circa 1947
It would have been my mom's 77th birthday this week, she has been gone for 8 years. We didn't have an easy relationship, I realized lately that I still can't always talk about early years without crying. But I do wish she would have been here longer.
Mom had few early pictures. I think this one is quite sweet, she and her best friend Marie Zandecki (on the left) appeared to have spent some time at the fair. I am guessing because of the hats. You could still get similar hats at the fair when I was a child. I haven't resized this photo, if you want to grab it please do. I rather like that idea now though I hadn't thought of it when I started this post. Maybe posting it is enough for me to be able to use it in a piece now.

A FIRST SNOW IN VICTORIA
When you live in an area that doesn't always see snow in the winter, it isn't always pretty! The mushy, brown ugly slush that it soon turns into is just a dreary pain.
Taken from my hotel window at about 4:45 am - on my camera phone so don't dis the quality! Snow softly falling in the dusky light before sunrise - a perfect quiet moment.
Behind the columned building is the inner harbour, there is a walkway all around this end which is ringed by all of the lanterns. Faint cityscape in the background.

These are quite large if you print out on a letter size sheet you will get the original size. These are from my own collection. Have fun!
VINTAGE VALENTINE - SCHOOL GIRL 1930s
Isn't she a sweetie! This Valentine was from my dad to his mother. She was a school teacher so maybe that explains the choice or the choice was up to his 3 sisters?

SOCK MONKEY INSPIRED VALENTINE
The sock monkey, timeless don't you think? The inspiration for this came from my daughter Allison, who has made a sock monkey for each of her own children's first Christmas. What fun McLean and I had creating a sock monkey tea party! I designed this paper-pieced card a couple of years ago but haven't shared it here. If you e-mail me (button on the right) I will send you the pattern (finally Cathy!)

VALENTINE CARDS - BUTTON BOUQUET
While I am not typically a card maker these look much better IRL! I have had a go at a few Valentine crafts this week preparing for a Valentine crafting afternoon with two young friends. I will put together a few "kits" for them so that they go away with good haul of finished crafts.
I have done a Christmas banner this week also, crafting this far ahead makes me feel quite on top of things! LOL It will go to my daughter but she couldn't help but confess she had been looking to see if I posted it...with a baby due in just a couple of weeks, I thought she might be distracted.
