SHOWTIME - A LAS VEGAS SCRAPBOOKING LAYOUT

This is my response to the "Swirly Challenge Sponsored by Swirlydoos" and posted on Scrapperlicious.  Click on the title of this post to go directly to Scrapperlicious, if you are unfamiliar with Irene Tan and love Tim Holtz - go immediately!  But do come back...

The swirls in this layout are:  the swirly flourish at the bottom, which I traced with an acrylic piece, cut out and then used it to back the paper  for dimension, I used paisley patterned paper (isn't paisley composed of swirls?) and then the ribbon that the title sits on is "swirled" across the top of the photo.

I have had this pic sitting out for a bit now, I am making myself scrap the trip last year first!  It can be hard to deal with bigger pics and yes I could have downsized it but this size is what we paid (I think) $40 for!  When in Vegas only.. but a good thing as there didn't end up being any pics of the two of us.  We were with another couple on this trip and Lisa and I thought let's go to an "old Las Vegas" show.  I don't know about the guys but both of us slept through it..LOL  It was likely a good show but the late nights caught up on us!

I wanted to capture the feeling of an old Las Vegas stage - rich, vibrant colors and a bit of vintage.  This paper line "glad rags" from Paper Salon was just what I wanted.  The dotted strip on the bottom is popped up, the teeny dice are beads I added.  I've swept my gold Krylon pen across the title and faux stitched the big swirl for added richness.  I actually did hold back on this layout - I left the "gems" which frame the photo alone :)

Of course I tucked the tickets and the claim stub for the photo behind.  Not only are they the right embellishment but one day perhaps someone with the same love of ephemera I have will find them and be oh so delighted.
