PRACTICE MINI JOURNAL - COLOR LOVE 101

What a great fun class!  There are so many talented artists participating, I try not to be too awestruck.  I have adored trying out so many new colour tools like Inktense Pencils, Tombow Markers and rediscovering glittery gel pens!  Try a little this and a little that, I am consciously trying to draw bigger(!)  Practice, practice, practice!

SUMMER OF COLOUR #2 - ICE CREAM INSPIRATIONS WEEK 3

Well it is late in the week but I made it!  This week Kristin has inspired us with ...wait for it... "Baseball Nut" ice cream, creamy vanilla swirled with black raspberry ribbon and loaded with cashews..YUM!  As planned I have done a "two fer" as my friend Helene calls it by working this into another project.  ColorLove 101 - one of this weeks lessons is Spray and Play - and what fun it has been.

I've created my journal page background with the help of ;  Glimmer Mist in Cherry Limeaide and Wheatfields, ColorWash in Cranberry, Prima and Glimmer Screen masks.  Vanilla, black raspberry and cashew!

COLOUR LOVE 101

A few days working in town and in my crafty space at night, I'm feeling connected again.  Thanks for not deserting me after months of neglect!

Swore I wouldn't for several years, resisted all efforts from different fronts.  I have a set of Stampin' Up markers that I bought 2nd hand when I first started paper crafting, a few different singles of other brands that I have bought for various projects and I just bought a set of Distress markers, well they are from Tim so of course I need them.  This sounds silly but I really thought the only ones who needed markers were stampers and maybe those serious arty types who journal.  I apologize!

I'm still not much of a stamper though I own a lot of stamps.  Looks like I have more than dipped my toe into art journaling.  So YES I bought a small set of Tombow markers yesterday and I love them.  Along with everything else I have bought to do the Color Love 101 course.  I found myself searching online last night for a Tombow color chart.   Hooked. Yes you betcha!    There are a lot of really talented artists taking this course and they are being very kind and encouraging to those of us who may have a creative thread or two but try hard.  So with my brand new "Jelly Bean" Tombow Markers...a first attempt.

LETTER LOVE 101 - ARTFULLY ABSTRACTED Lesson 11

Another catch-up lesson!  LetterLove 101 from Joanne Sharpe.  This is a great course, do check it out!  My lettering has marginally improved with the little bit of work I have put in - I know if I make the time to practice, practice I will be thrilled!  I have never liked my own printing or handwriting.  Hope lives!!

SUMMER OF COLOUR #2 - ICE CREAM INSPIRATIONS WEEK 2

The ice cream inspiration Kristin has set for us in Week 2 is "Chocolate Chip Mint"!

My plan for participating has been to combine Summer of Colour II with the on-line classes I am enrolled in.  So this week it is  COLOUR LOVE 101!  Playing with new colour tools and old ones in so many different ways already and I am lovin' this class.   I wasn't sure I would like this colour family but indeed it does remind me of Chocolate Chip Mint hmmm maybe with marshmallows!

COLOUR LOVE 101 - JOURNAL COVER

Our first class encouraged us to make swatches and samples of all of our tools.  Honestly I thought well ok I am going to be in a hotel room so I can do this and feel crafty and productive.  Actually it was a great way to really look at colours, differences in the pigments, textures etc.  and I enjoyed it!  InkTense pencils - a new FAV!

Our second class was to show us how to layer these colours while making a first cover page.  Water colours, using markers with water, InkTense and coloured pencils.  And in the style of Peter Max.  So here is mine - done in and photographed in a hotel room with my cell phone!

SUMMER OF COLOUR #2 - ICE CREAM INSPIRATIONS WEEK 1

Our inspiration for Week #1 is Rainbow Sherbet!

My first plan (meaning this could change at any given time!) is to integrate catching up on any number of on-line classes I have enrolled in and not completed (how many of us are there?) with Kristin's SUMMER OF COLOUR #2.   One of those classes is LETTER LOVE 101 with Joanne Sharpe..a wonderful series of classes and indeed I have signed up for her new offering COLOUR LOVE 101.  I may never transform my lettering into an art form...a truth I accept but I am concentrating on at least making it readable and surrounded by something artful!

COTTON CANDY GIRL WORKSHOP - FUNKY BACKGROUND

This was supposed to be ``funky hair`` ..well not that purple hair isn`t a bit funky LOL  I am having so much fun that I am happy to do another ``Lesson 2``!   Asked my daughter what she thought of the ``girls`` - she thought they were creepy ... really not my typical thing but it is great to go out of my norm.   I love the crazy hair...sometime I will have to post a picture of me with Fushia hair.  That was about 10 years ago...actually the colouring suited me.  Wasn`t so common then, shook a few up LOL

COTTON CANDY GIRL WORKSHOP - JOURNAL PAGE "A BIRD IN THE HAIR IS WORTH"

Natasha has surprised the class several times with bonus classes.  This one is the face from Lesson One on a journal page with napkin tissue hair.  I never knew what I would do with napkin - I LOVE it on her head!  And I love the "two fer" of practicing the techniques and getting an art journal page in the process..  I want to use these "girls" in projects for the granddaughters...will have to figure out a more childlike look along the way.

COTTON CANDY GIRLS - AN ANGEL!

I signed up for Natasha May's Cotton Candy Girls Workshop a few weeks ago and had my first go at it this weekend.  This one is done on a 6x6 chunky canvass with acrylics and Pitt Artist pens.   Far from perfect but at some point you just gotta go with  what you have!
